TRE ORE SERVICE, GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 15 AT NOON, at Zion Lutheran, Beecher.
All are invited to attend a special Good Friday service known as Tre Ore. The service will be led by several area LCMS pastors. You may come for all or part of the Tre Ore service. Please, “Come when you can and leave when you must.”
The Tre Ore service, which is Latin for “Three Hours," normally lasts for three hours – from noon on Good Friday (as Jesus began His final 3 hours of time on the Cross) and ended at 3 pm (the time that Scripture tells us that He proclaimed “It is finished!” and died for us).
During the Tre Ore service, a series of seven homilies will be preached on each of the final words of Christ as recorded in the Gospels. Between each homily, hymns will be sung and various Psalms and portions of Scripture will be read. Each homily will be 7-10 minutes in length.
As mentioned above, the Tre Ore service normally lasts a total of 3 hours. However, as a way to begin this service in our area, we plan to have the entire service within 90 minutes, finishing in approximately half the usual time – about 1:30 pm.
The service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 540 Oak Park Ave., Beecher, IL 60401. (Ample parking is available on either the east or west sides of the church.) Worship begins at Noon, Good Friday, April 15th.
Scheduled preachers are: Pr. Matt Dubensky, St. Paul, Chicago Heights; Pr. Cory Estby, Zion, Grant Park; Pr. Julian LaMie, St. John, Beecher, Pr. Craig Meissner, Immanuel, Steger; Pr. Ron Rock, Zion, Beecher; Pr. Mike Stein, St. Paul, Beecher, and Pr. Kevin Werner, Risen Savior, Manteno.
