Peterson-Warren Academy UPDATE: Following the unfortunate break-in that took place a few weeks ago at Peterson-Warren Academy, we are grateful to share a positive report with our school family, supporters, and community.

We are pleased to report that students were able to return for their final week of school, significant progress had been made in cleaning and restoring the building. Special thanks and appreciation go to Dr. Tim Gardener, Pastor Bell and his family, and the Motor City pastors and supporters of PWA for their dedicated efforts to help prepare the school for the students' return. While there is still work to be done, we are thankful for how far things have come.

We are also pleased to report that all iPads and laptops have been recovered.

Principal Lynette Jefferson reflected on the experience, saying, "There is still more to be done, but we are thanking the Lord. Even though the damage could have been more catastrophic, it wasn't."

She continued, "There were two rooms that they were not able to get into. Those rooms contained computers and smart boards. They were not damaged or touched at all. They did not get into those rooms. That amazes me, and I believe that God told them, 'This far and no further.'"

In the midst of a difficult situation, we continue to see God's protection, provision, and grace. Peterson-Warren Academy remains committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for its students for the next school year.

The Lake Region Conference recently hosted the Capital City SDA School Constituency Meeting at Capital City Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 7, 2026.

Dr. Abraham F. Henry, President; Elder Eddie Allen, Vice President; and Deirdre Garnett, Superintendent for Education, facilitated the meeting, bringing together constituents, pastors, and supporters of Adventist education from across the area.

Attendees received updates on the school's progress and achievements from Principal Marjorie McField, along with members of her teaching and support staff. Their presentations highlighted the dedication and commitment of those who work each day to provide a Christ-centered educational experience for Capital City SDA School students.

The meeting was further strengthened by the presence of area pastors who attended to demonstrate their support for the school and its mission.
