Snowball Mountain Challenge - Joint VBS Adventure 2026
We are excited to announce that Robeson Lutheran Church is once again joined by our friends from Renewed Spirit Church of Reading, to share in Vacation Bible School at Robeson, and we would like to invite your child/ren to attend.
The dates are June 22-26, 9:30-noon, and VBS Sunday on June 28 at 10:30 a.m. Children of ages older fours (going into Pre-K) through 6th grade are invited to join us for Snowball Mountain Challenge, an exciting VBS journey based on Philippians 4:13, NRSV: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” This verse reminds us that God’s strength through Jesus can help us face challenges.
So, Get ready for an ice-cold summer adventure, packed with cool winter activities. The Snowball Mountain Challenge is an exciting winter sports event held every year on Snowball Mountain. Ollie, the Arctic Seal, an enthusiastic vlogger with an online following, and the Activities Director or AD (Assembly Leader) explore the Challenge Companion (the Bible) every day to learn how God helps Bible heroes—and people today— face challenges. Through stories from the Old and New Testaments, Challengers will learn that with the strength God provides through Jesus, they can do more than they ever dreamed they could do. With this understanding, children will be invited to share the good news of Jesus and share the love and strength God offers with everyone, everywhere, every day.

Online registration is open and available at the following link: https://forms.gle/qHuNqu2XTZN5UDJN8

In order to have enough materials on hand we are asking that you pre-register your child/ren. Please be sure to note the age or grade for all children. There is no registration fee, however, a letter will be sent home during VBS for those who would like to contribute to VBS expenses, and/or donate towards this year’s mission organization, The Alaska Wilderness League which works to protect Alaska’s wild lands, animals, and waters. The (AWL) was founded in 1993, and collaborates with various partners, especially those from Alaska Native communities, in shared efforts to advance land protections and climate solutions.

Our next VBS planning meeting is May 6th at 7pm (Robeson)
Please note: we are still looking for volunteers to act as Guides for the children - taking them between classrooms and stations - and anyone who would like to help is encouraged to let Pastor Michael know.
(If you are interested but cannot make the future planning meeting, please pass your email information along to Pastor Michael and he will gladly keep you in the loop.)
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Lenten Gatherings - We will again join our friends at Renewed Spirit for Wednesday Lenten meals and services. We will car pool to their church when they are hosting. Following is a description of this year’s program.
Laughing Through Lent - Finding Grace, Humility, and Hope in Holy Humor

Lent is often marked by seriousness—a season of repentance, reflection, and honest self-examination as we journey toward the cross. Yet the Scriptures that guide us through this season are filled with stories that surprise us, unsettle our expectations, and at times even make us smile. The Bible does not shy away from showing human weakness, misunderstanding, and irony. In fact, God often uses these very moments to reveal grace.

Laughing Through Lent invites us to pay attention to the humorous and unexpected side of familiar biblical stories—not to make light of faith, but to take God’s grace seriously enough to see ourselves clearly within the story. From David facing a giant with a sling, to Elijah’s holy sarcasm, to Jonah running from God, to Peter stepping out in faith only to sink, and finally to the astonishing surprise of the resurrection, these stories remind us that God works through imperfect people in unexpected ways.

While our Lenten journey will not avoid the seriousness of the cross—it will, nevertheless, remind us that the God who brings life out of death also meets us with joy along the way. And so we invite you to join us this year in Laughing Through Lent—where faith is deep, grace is surprising, and joy is never far from the story.

As part of our time together each week, we will share in a meal, enjoy some stand-up Christian comedy, and examine the humorous side of a beloved Bible story that will offer us all a time for smiles, laughs, and contemplation of living in the joy of our faith. The weekly Lenten schedule is as follows:

Feb 25 – 6-7:30pm (Robeson) – Pastor Rob – “Goliath Gets Stoned”
March 4 – 6-7:30pm (Renewed Spirit) – Pastor Michael – “Prophetic Trash Talkin’”
March 11 – 6-7:30pm (Robeson) – Pastor Rob – “Jonah’s Fishy Story”
March 18 – 6-7:30pm (Renewed Spirit) – Pastor Michael – “Look, Whine, & Sinker”
March 25 – 6-7:30pm (Robeson) – Pastor Rob – “Death’s Bad Day”

Dear Friends,
In light of the upcoming winter storm, we are taking the precaution of canceling our 10:30am in-person worship service for Sunday, February 22nd.

Please note that our 9:00am online Zoom worship service with our sister congregation, Renewed Spirit, will continue as scheduled.
If you would like to join us on Zoom, please email [email protected] and all information will be provided.

On behalf of our finance committee we extend our gracious thannk to those who continue to support the congregation even in those times in which we cannot meet in-person. Such proper stewardship is a mark of faithfulness to God's calling, and a blessing to the minitries of our congregation. Thank you!

That said, it is our hope that you will avoid any unecessary travel and seek to help out any neighbors in need during this significant weather event. In the meantime, we will look forward to seeing you next week!
Stay safe, stay warm, and God Bless!
