Yesterday a friend posted this drawing, and I immediately thought about the scripture "Make a joyful noise...". That phrase is often my response when someone says "I can't sing." I tell them, God didn't tell us to sing beautifully, He said, Make a joyful noise. So, I looked up that phrase, turns out it is in seven different verses in Psalms. One for each day of the week. Some of those Psalms include memories of the problems the people had encountered, one says "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." (Psalm 66:18). Lots to think about. And that led me to remembering the song based on Isaiah 51 that says The redeemed will return with Joy and sorrow and mourning will flee away. Isaiah 61 says God will give beauty instead of ashes (putting ashes on the head was an action in response to great grief), God will give the oil of joy for mourning, garments of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness.
Philippians 4 was next: Rejoice Paul said, don't concentrate on what is wrong (be careful for nothing) instead pray with thanksgiving... and the Peace of God will guard our heart and mind. Paul goes on to instruct us to think on the GOOD things in our lives (read Phil 4:8 in the KJV.) Philippians 4 is also the source of the verses, I have learned to be content; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and My God shall supply all your needs through His riches in glory.
So, be like the frog, even if you can't sing, or don't feel like singing, Praise Jesus anyway!
As Paul closed the letter to the church at Philippi, my thought for you today: Philippians 4:23 KJV - The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen.
