I.M.A of Mobile, Alabama and Vicinity IMA is a non–profit faith base organization representing ministers and congregations throughout the G Bishop William Phillips, founder of the A.O.H.

The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance ( IMA) was born out of the need for the African American Commu-nity to have an Interdenominational body that addressed the social, economic and political needs of their mem-bers in the Greater Mobile community. Churches, Reverend Uriah Robinson, President of the Alabama Baptist State Convention, and Bishop William Smith, Presiding Bishop of the A.M.E Zi

on Church gathered religious leadership of the Interdenominational commu-nity together and wrote by-laws that would govern IMA. Doctor Joseph Lowery, Pastor of Warren Methodist Church and Reverend William Smith, Pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church led a movement to address civil issues, that were impacting their community. They began the celebration of The Emancipation Proclamation Service on New Year's Day, so that the African American Community would always be aware that their liberation must come from within themselves.
