Shalom! I’m reaching out to you to share an important need for our sanctuary in our home—a new air conditioning unit to keep our community comfortable during services. It’s going to cost $1,443 more than we had anticipated. If we can raise even $1,000 to help pay for that, it would be a mitzvah and tremendous blessing for the kingdom God. Right now it gets incredibly hot and it’s only going to get hotter and we desperately need AC and really can’t have services without it. Beginning tonight and tomorrow day is actually a double holy day, it being Shabbat AND Yom Kippur. Which means it is the holiest day possible in time. In Temple times, a visible manifestation of God would appear in the incense smoke in the Kodesh HaKodashim (Holy of Holies), between the Cherubim that sat on the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant, visible to the only human allowed to enter in, the High Priest of Israel.

Today, whosoever will can approach God and experience his Presence. But not all days are equal. Tonight begins the holiest day possible, a double Shabbat Shabbaton, Sabbath of Sabbaths. And if there was ever a time we needed God to manifest his presence, it is now. So let us go into the day with a heart full of teshuvah (repentance) and strive to enter into the presence of the Holy of Holies.
