Our Mission: The Mission of Prince of Peace Catholic church is to foster an atmosphere for people of all ages that will provide and enrich a deep, faith-filled relationship with God and Neighbor. In May 1970, there were two parishes located within four blocks of each other. Vincent's parish was located at the corner of Lawrence and Palmetto Streets existed to serve the Caucasian community while St

. Peter Claver located at the corner of Dearborn and Palmetto Streets existed to serve the African-American community. Upon Bishop May's arrival in Mobile he became aware of the closeness of the two churches and performed a study to identify the needs of the two changing communities and residential patterns with a target of creating a spirit of togetherness and inclusiveness rather than divisiveness. Early in 1970, many meetings were held with parishioners of both parishes and a decision was reached to combine the parishes and change the name to Prince of Peace. Vincent's would be the home of the new parish.
