From Dr. Kevin Blackwell to Mobile Baptists:

As we prepare for the approaching hurricane, our disaster relief leaders are coordinating a response to serve our churches and communities.

I have been in communication with Mark Wakefield of ALSBOM Disaster Relief and Carolyn Battle, our MBN Disaster Relief leader. Alabama volunteers are on standby across all areas of response, including administration, chaplaincy, chainsaw work, cleanup and recovery, mass feeding and crew feeding, showers and laundry, and communications. Teams could begin deploying as early as Saturday afternoon, depending on conditions and needs.

If needed, we plan to establish a command center at Woodridge Baptist Church with the goal of having it fully operational by Saturday night.

To report damage this weekend, please contact me or call the MBN office (251-661-7111) or email [email protected]. Our Disaster Relief Team plans to have someone at the MBN Ministry Center for much of Saturday and on Sunday if needed, to receive reports, especially those involving church property.

When reporting damage, please include:

The church name or location needing assistance.

A brief description of the damage and any urgent needs.

The name and phone number of a contact person.

Photos, if they can be taken safely.

Once the command center is operational, we will share a dedicated phone number with our churches and through local media and social media. The command center will then coordinate damage reports and disaster relief requests, allowing our MBN staff to address additional ministry and support needs.

Your safety comes first. Please wait until conditions are safe before inspecting property or traveling to assess damage. The information you provide will help our teams identify needs and respond as quickly and effectively as possible.

We are preparing diligently and praying for the best. Thank you for caring for your congregation and neighbors during this uncertain time. Please join me in praying for protection, wisdom, and opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ throughout Mobile County.
