Scam Alert: Watch Out for Fake Emails Posing as Pastor Jerome Brimmage

Several church members have recently reported receiving fraudulent emails that claim to be from Pastor Jerome. These messages often ask for urgent favors, discreet assistance, or the purchase of gift cards for a sensitive cause.

How to Spot the Scam

Check the sender's full email address: Scammers often use display names like "Pastor Brimmage" or "Rev. Brimmage," but the underlying email address will be from a public service like Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook (e.g., [email protected]).

Look out for urgent or secret requests: Scammers frequently ask you to keep the request quiet or act quickly before you have time to double-check.

Watch for gift card or wire requests: Church leadership will never ask you to buy gift cards, send wire transfers, or make personal monetary contributions directly via email.

Verify the email address: Official emails from Pastor Brimmage will only come from [email protected]. If the address doesn't match this exactly, do not respond.

Do not click links or open attachments: If you receive a suspicious message, do not reply or click any links inside the email.

Verify through a trusted channel: If you are ever unsure whether a message is authentic, call the church office directly or reach out to Pastor Brimmage using official contact information.

If you believe you have received one of these fake emails, please mark it as spam in your email provider and report it to the church office so we can keep the congregation informed.
