The Connecting Space offers support for families and professionals with connective parenting and care giving for children from hard places. This support is based on Trust Based Relational Intervention ® (TBRI®), a parenting and intervention model developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the Texas Christian University (TCU) Institute of Child Development. TBRI ® is based on a solid foundation of neuropsychological theory and research, tempered by humanitarian principles. It is a family-based intervention that is designed for children who have experienced relationship-based traumas such as institutionalization, multiple foster placements, maltreatment, and/or neglect.

Our Story

The Connecting Space was born from one mom’s desire to heal her adopted sons from their early history. Through the course of many years, this mom learned that connected parenting using biblical principles offered the greatest hope. This journey increased her education on the affects of trauma on the developing child, brought her new skills and techniques to decrease trauma- behaviors in her sons, but most importantly increased her capacity for empathy for her son’s stories and her own.

The Connecting Space offers support for families like hers who are care giving children from hard places. We offer family-based intervention and support that is designed for children who have experienced relationship-based traumas such as institutionalization, multiple foster placements, maltreatment, and/or neglect.
