Please join us in prayer for the people of Colombia who were impacted by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake this morning, the strongest to strike the country in the last decade. At least 281 people have died, and thousands more are injured, missing, or have been displaced from their homes. As first responders and search and rescue teams uncover the devastating toll of this disaster, we pray for them and their efforts, and we mourn with those who have lost loved ones.

UMCOR stands ready to respond through support to our humanitarian and ecumenical partners in Colombia and across Latin America. We will share response updates on social media as they become available.

🇻🇪 Standing with Venezuela
As the headlines keep our attention bouncing from one thing to the next, we want to stop and look back for a moment.
On June 24, a devastating series of earthquakes shook Venezuela. The death toll has surpassed 4,000. Nearly 18,000 people are homeless. Entire neighborhoods were reduced to rubble, hospitals were overwhelmed, and families are still waiting for news of missing loved ones — all while the country continues to navigate years of political and economic hardship that were already pushing communities to the edge.
We know the news has been heavy. It feels like every week brings another crisis, another community in need, another urgent call to respond. We feel it too. And yet — here we are again, because we can't look away.
At Bethel, we try to live out a practice of abundance — the belief that when we share what we have, even when it doesn't feel like much, God has a way of multiplying it into something greater than we can imagine. No gift is too small. No prayer goes unheard. Together, what we offer becomes more than the sum of its parts.

Join us in prayer for the Philippines, as flooding and landslides caused by Typhoon Inday (international name: Bavi) and the enhanced southwest monsoon caused at least 15 deaths and impacted tens of thousands of people in the southern region of the country last week. We pray especially for those still vulnerable and recovering from the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck this same region last month. We also lift up the people of Taiwan and China who are in the path of Typhoon Bavi.

UMCOR is in close communication with our Disaster Management Office in the Davao Episcopal Area - UMC, and we stand ready to support them as they respond to the needs of those impacted.
