Cross Bars Ministries

Cross Bars Ministries Cross Bars is a ministry dedicated to helping people rebuild their lives. The goal: reverse generational poverty and people reaching their full potential.

We do this through a community setting, job re-entry program and coaching opportunities.

Cross Bars was a great God lead ministry. Thirft Store,, job training, a place serve people who had court appointed community hours,, and a place to receive help when emergencies arised. We served over over 2500 families in one of our years (different families) through our food pantry. Not two bad for starting with a couple of box dinners and a few cans of soup. Cross Bars also gave away hundreds of coats for the winter though the years of community service. The ministry also cooked and served Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other dinners for the community. The Ministry was always about living out the Christian faith in a non-judgmental and practical way. Many people were cared for, prayed for, and came to know Jesus as their Savour. The only glory for this work is Jesus.

Hello to our friends
Cross Bars is on the move. The building we rent is up for sale. We need to transition into the other building we have been using on occasion for community dinners, coats drive, and Christmas gift giving. We been doing this for 3 years now. It's time to make a serious effort to transition into that building which will serve the community at a deeper level. If you can help us with a donation or two, or know someone who can, please do so. Really, really, really!!! appreciate any kind of help. Donations can be made through pay-pal ([email protected]). or sent to 1102 Union St. Mishawaka, IN 46544
Blessings to all.

Larry Hanson
Last Thursday, I/we held a memorial service for a homeless guy from the community. He helped us, he help the neighborhood and he help a lot of people (and also stayed with various people at times) in the community. It was a shame and disgrace that he would be forgotten if someone didn't do something. Awesome community event and Veteran service. Check out the article at www.southbendtribune.com for Sunday's front page news.

Had a great community Thanksgiving dinner. We server 75-80 people. We also gave away a ton of coats and winter gear that day and a few weeks before. Wow! Life is good!

Holiday Food Drive with a twist! Just a note to let you know this Saturday is our 2nd. "Cans Instead of Cash" day. Every can or non-perishable food item is equal to $1.00 towards your purchase. 10 cans=$10.00. Spread the word. Great way to get rid of unwanted items, stock our food pantry and help people who can't afford a lot of Christmas gifts and such. Last year we brought in 1,110lbs of food!! Let's do it again!!!

Hello to all!!!
One of the things about myself that I have realized lately, is that I am really not much of a "Facebooker" person. I really want to change that. There are many things going on in my life and at Cross Bars Ministries, that I feel the need for more friends and support; Words of encouragement, sharing posts and all that stuff, helps me to feel connected. I love to read your posts, yet I have not responded to many. Sorry about that. Life at Cross Bars is rewarding helping people and all that, yet sometimes very difficult and time consuming. So hey... here are a few things that would help encourage me, help Cross Bars and help the community also.
Could you please go to the 1st. Source Bank website, (www.1stsource.com) click on the "150 years, $150,000" banner and download the "Nominate Your Favorite Charity" form and nominate Cross Bars Ministries. We have already won $1,000. Now we have a chance at $15,000. Whoa! That would be cool. This past week at the Thrift Store we have already served around 100 families at the food pantry. Many of these people have nominated Cross Bars Ministries for the grand prize of $15,000. With that prize money, we can continue to serve the people of our community. Last year,(2012) Cross Bars served almost 10,000 individual family members through our food pantry, we gave away nearly 600 coats and helped hundreds of people with emergency relief, Community dinners and Community Service hours. 2013 should, without a doubt, exceed last years statistics for helping people in need.
Thanks so....... much for your encouragement
