Dear Wesley Chapel family,
Today during worship, we announced pastoral changes that will happen effective July 1st. While these announcements are difficult and come with many emotions, we trust God’s grace in the midst of change and transition. Please be aware of the following changes:
-Rev. Kris Mares will no longer serve as a pastor at Wesley Chapel and will focus on her ministry at Pfeiffer University. Kris’s last Sunday in worship will be June 28th;
-Rev. Jennifer Orr will no longer serve as a pastor at Wesley Chapel and will focus primarily on her ministry through Granted Grace, while remaining with The Haven ¼ time. Jennifer’s last Sunday in worship will be June 21st;
-Wesley Chapel will become a part of the North Stanly Cooperative Parish, consisting of Bethany UMC, New London UMC, First Street UMC, Badin UMC, The Haven, and Wesley Chapel. Pfeiffer will be a partner with the Cooperative Parish;
-Rev. Kelly Shrader will be appointed to the North Stanly Cooperative Parish and serve as the pastor at Wesley Chapel.
It has been a gift to serve as your pastor and to walk with you through the joys, the trials, and the questions of your life. While we will both remain in the area and will certainly be collaborating with you for ongoing ministry to our community, we also entrust you to Rev. Kelly’s care and leadership. In our remaining time together as pastors and congregation, we look forward to laying the foundation for a smooth transition of ministry and leadership.
One part of that transition will surround the work of the new North Stanly Cooperative Parish. This way of coming together as United Methodists in the northern Stanly County area will help us maximize the strengths of each congregation and coalesce around a common mission that will meet the needs of our neighbors. Please watch for more opportunities to learn about the work of the cooperative parish in the weeks to come.
Know that we are praying for you and we ask that you pray for us and for Rev. Kelly as she prepares to join you in July. Thank you for your grace.
Blessings,
Kris and Jennifer
