MINISTERIAL MUSINGS
April 6, 2021
Trees greening and birds chirping in the morning are sure signs of spring, even with the cold snap that altered our Easter celebrations this past week-end. I say altered because the cold cannot cancel Easter. God raises Christ from the dead despite (because of?) everything the world and the “powers and principalities” do to stop it. That is our resurrection hope and what makes us a resurrection people!
Special thanks to everyone who helped prepare for our Easter Sunday celebrations including our Choir, Praise Team,
Al and Pat Millman, Bob and Suzette Southern, Barry and Sarah Price, Becky Barnes, Barbara Bingham, Jeff Workman, Mark Chester and Ray Werts. Also, a Big Thanks to our Lenten Devotions & Holy Week participants.
This Sunday April 11, we begin offering 8:45 AM worship inside the sanctuary. We will utilize every other pew for social distancing and ask worshippers to wear masks throughout the service. Please call the Church Office (704) 545-6785 by Wednesday noon each week to let us know how many from your family plan to attend. Ushers and greeters will assist everyone entering and exiting the service.
Our drive-in service will shift to 11:11 AM and we continue to offer a recorded service on-line. For the drive-in service, please feel free to bring a chair and sit outside (weather permitting) in the designated area. Please wear a mask and social distance.
Small groups can meet inside on Sunday mornings with masks and social distancing. Contact Lynn Smith to coordinate.
To prepare for worship this Sunday, you are invited to read John 21:1-17. We have celebrated Easter and this Sunday we will join the Risen Christ as he invites the disciples to come and have breakfast with him on the beach.
Join us for our Spring Litter Sweep Saturday April 10! Meet in the church lot at 8:30 AM to help clean Blair Road near the church. Bags, gloves and vests provided.
As we move through spring and into summer, we realize how important the COVID vaccines are proving to be! Please get your shots as soon as available to your age or situation. If we can stay the course we are on, including the health protocols that have served us well during the pandemic, we can see the end in sight! Early summer can be a time of healing and recovery. Late summer and early fall can be a time of renewal. But we must use the means (vaccines, masks, social distancing, smaller gatherings, etc.) God has provided! Let’s continue to thankfully pray for the medical and pharmaceutical researchers, distributers, doctors and nurses that are getting vaccines administered in our region, state, nation and world.
And remember, we follow a Risen Lord! God is good … all the time!
Peace, Tom
