It's finally Friday! Take a one minute pause and welcome yourself to re-center, noting the week you've lived and the weekend you plan and hope to have. Take a few breaths in and out, then listen to Psalm 23 and allow yourself to encounter peace. You are so loved.

Last evening we pondered peace. After a delicious supper, we gathered for simple worship and focused on a few components of peace: Jesus as shepherd as visualized through Psalm 23, how the Hebrew and Greek words for peace are a blessing AND a call to action to create peace, and then we took time to write prayers for peace. We received this blessing/call/and truth from Jesus found in John's Gospel:

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid." (John 14:27)

So, when you hear "peace be with you!" this new year, you are being called to participate in creating Shalom, active peace. May the Spirit open your heart, mind, eyes, and hands to that Holy work.
