Bet Shalom Congregation Welcome! We are a Reform Jewish synagogue in Minnetonka, MN. Bet Shalom is a community, as well as a congregation. We are single, married, widowed and divorced.

We are LGBTQ, and we are straight. We are single parents, interfaith families, coupled parents, Jews by birth and Jews by choice. We are proud of this diversity and provide a variety of ways for each individual to express their Judaism.

As we move toward Shabbat, our hearts face East. As Judah Halevi poetically penned in the Middle Ages, "Our hearts are in the East and we are here so far away in the West." Our hearts always face East as we pray toward Jerusalem and consider peace in the Land and beyond.

Yesterday we turned East in terror as Temple Israel in Detroit was the target of senseless terrorism. While more information will surely come in the days ahead, we know that the only fatality was the attacker. For this, we utter prayers of gratitude with tears still in our eyes that someone would even attempt to commit such a crime.

Their security protocols worked when they needed to and we are so grateful for that. And we are equally grateful for the thought, effort, intention, and financial & human resources which go to keeping us safe here in our own congregation.

As we enter Shabbat at Bet Shalom this weekend, may everyone stay warm and out of the storm. May some of that warmth come from being in community together. We hope you will consider being with us at Services tonight and tomorrow…in person or virtually as you are able.
