Vision statement: Men of Hope is an uncommon brotherhood centered on lasting growth and becoming men who advance the gospel to make disciples. No matter the background, we share and invest our lives with great care, encouraging one another as we collectively work for the good of the Twin Cities.
Missional purpose: Developing men who advance the gospel together and flourish in faith together
Evangelism - Men trained in ongoing witness and outreach by sharing the good news & loving others.
Discipleship - Men taught to follow Jesus for a lifetime, holistically considering how to grow into his image.
Community - Men rooted in the body of Christ, having mutually encouraging life-giving relationships.
We believe in the importance of building our foundation on Jesus, the Gospel, and Scripture.
Here is a summary of how we aim to do this, by answering the following questions:
Who is Jesus to Men of Hope?
Jesus is our kinsman redeemer (Ruth 3:9), our brother who delivered us by acting on behalf of all people and canceling our collective debt at the cross.
He is both the foundation of (1 Corinthians 3:11) and the righteous King (Jeremiah 23:5) over our livelihood. He has secured our future by his victory over sin and death, and even now he lives to intercede on our behalf with God (Hebrews 7:25).
He shows us in the present how we should steward our time (Luke 5:16), relationships (Matthew 9:9-13), major decisions (Luke 6:12) and positions of influence (Luke 14:8-9).
What hope does the Gospel provide to Men of Hope?
For Men of Hope, the Gospel declares Christ’s finished work through his death and resurrection, and that Christ is able to redeem all things because of it. Since we are created for good works, but not justified by them (Ephesians 2:2-10), we can rest in our secure relationship with God.
Additionally, Christ has brought down the dividing wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:14), creating fertile ground for rich relationships between seemingly disparate groups of people, no matter their race, socioeconomic background, or individual sin struggles. The group of the Lord’s redeemed spans all of these lines and comes together in thankfulness for His steadfast love (Psalm 107).
How does Scripture lead Men of Hope?
Scripture is both our priceless source of wisdom (Proverbs 4:7) and also our root of humility (Micah 6:8). Since it declares all of us have turned away from God (Isaiah 53:6), we all are on the same level in terms of our need for grace. We shouldn’t consider ourselves as better than others and should seek to serve one another instead of competing for status (Philippians 2:3-4).
We welcome all men into our community, encourage one another as brothers and stir one another up toward love and good works (Hebrews 10:24). Rather than comparing or attempting to prove ourselves, we acknowledge our flaws, seek advice from those who can help us overcome our struggles and look to God’s word for wisdom together.
