We’re grateful to have had the opportunity to join with The Open Door to help provide food for families in need.

This donation represents much more than pounds or pallets. It reflects what can happen when people work together with a shared desire to care for others. We are especially thankful The Open Door is able to receive, store, and distribute this food, and for the meaningful impact it will have across the community.

We’re also grateful for all who helped make this possible, including local leaders and volunteers whose support and service continue to bless so many. We’re thankful to be part of the broader America250 effort in a way that could help meet real needs close to home.

Caring for neighbors is sacred work, and we are thankful to play even a small part in it.

You’re looking at the single largest food donation in The Open Door’s history!

Today we welcomed a 40,000lb donation of pantry essentials courtesy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with facilitation support from America250 and JustServe. Special shoutout as well to Lakeville Mayor Luke Hellier for recommending The Open Door for this incredible gift! This food will go far in feeding our community.

If you need us, we’ll be busy in the warehouse finding room to fit all this food! 💚

This week was a boost to our reserves of gratitude and hope! Two truckloads of food assistance from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were delivered to Second Harvest Heartland (facebook.com/2harvest). Here are some photos of volunteers who worked on unloading and packaging--building emergency kits for shelters and those in need.

We deeply respect this incredible organization and their collaboration with so many we admire. It’s fantastic to be part of this larger community of generosity, working together to help those in need.

We’re thankful for a church and community of donors—that supports people emerging from hardship nationwide. And, with this contribution, we’re optimistic that real needs will be met, and we pray it fosters ongoing peace and goodwill throughout Minneapolis.

We have lost our dear prophet and Church president, Russell M. Nelson. He has forever impacted millions of Latter-day Saints and the Church—remembering his life in the story linked here is a great strength and blessing.

Thank you to those who have expressed kindness and sympathies. He is likely overjoyed to be on his way to glory—and reunion with many he loves. He will be missed but the work will go onward….ever onward!

The clothing drive happened - connected to the 9/11 National Day of Service--but here in Minneapolis on September 13th. Watching this video and seeing the thousands of volunteer hours (and many familiar faces among our Minnesota congregations!) -- and the impact on hundreds of lives of those who walked away with clothing for men, women, and children. ~700 people received clothing from this event--so grateful to so many, from many different neighborhoods across the Twin Cities--who joined with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--to make this happen.
