YOU’RE INVITED TO EASTER AT CITY CHURCH
Palm Sunday - March 29th | 9:30 - 10:30 am
Good Friday – April 3 | 6:30–7:30 pm
Easter Sunday – April 5 | 9:30 - 10:30 am
This Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, Palm Sunday. We will see the children wave palm branches to signify the coming of Jesus, a humble king.
Then we will turn to Good Friday. We will reflect on the cross. It will be a somber night, where we feel a fraction of the weight borne by Jesus for the creation, for us. We’ll recount his final hours through scripture, prayers, reflection, singing, and silence. A sacred time. Holy. Good. Then we will come to the Table together to receive communion, the Lord’s Supper. It signifies our belonging to his new way and kingdom, inaugurated by the cross. We will leave in silent reverence.
And finally, we will return for Easter, Resurrection Sunday. Having reckoned with the magnitude of Jesus’ sacrifice, the weight of death, we will come to celebrate its relative powerlessness in the face of a God in flesh who conquered it forever. Jesus, the resurrected King, is worthy of all worship, praise, and devotion. In Him we put our hope and trust. This foundation of our faith is worth celebrating. And we will, through song, story, video, teaching, and fun.
Come, enjoy the service, take a family photo at the photo booth, participate in the Easter egg hunt, and invite guests to be with us. We will see a foretaste of God’s ultimate victory over death and the powers that pollute this earth as we long for and await its final fulfillment. A joyous occasion.
