Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church/ North Minneapolis — a Minnesota State Fair staple for over 75 years ☕️🩵

Nestled in the North side on Randall Ave, the Salem Lutheran Dining Hall serves as an extension of Salem’s hospitality, where volunteers serve fresh food while fair goers relax from the bustle outside. The best part? The Dining Hall serves as job training for the youth of Salem and surrounding community! Youth ages 10-18 volunteer for shifts where they learn valuable hospitality, customer service, and food handling skills — strengthening their leadership and living out their faith in a caring environment.

The value of hospitality Salem Lutheran embodies at the State Fair is a prime example of the generous Minnesota spirit we can’t wait to showcase next summer.

This resource is filled with information on our registration process, why you should register under Priority Registration, as well as includes all the release and medical forms you'll need to provide on-site. Missed the SERVE webinar? Here are the top five things you need to know about this new add-on experience ✨

∙ Your SERVE experience will be several hours of hands-on service in the Twin Cities, alongside lunch and a LEARN portion, which helps you take what you experience and apply it to your community back home for further impact.

∙ If your congregation is wanting to participate— get ready to register EARLY. There are only 4,000 spots available (and we won't be opening more spots down the road!) This is truly a first-come, first-serve add-on experience.

∙ Full congregational groups are required to participate in SERVE. If you have someone in your group attending MYLE or the tAble, they are exempt from this rule, since they will have their own SERVE experience within their pre-event.

∙ SERVE experiences will be modeled after the MERGE framework (Migration, Economic, Racial, Gender, and Environmental)— you'll be able to rank these project themes when you register. The earlier you register, the better chance you will have getting a project in your top 3.

∙ The cost to participate in SERVE is $100 per person ($50 non-refundable deposit due at time of registration). This fee covers your project, supplies, an orange SERVE shirt, lunch, and transportation (if you need it!)
