One of the things we hear often at OLP is from parents, spouses, and family members who have a deep hope and desire for someone they love to return to the Catholic faith, or to discover it for the first time.

Tomorrow, August 18, begins the traditional St. Monica Novena, nine days of prayer for the conversion and return of someone we love.

St. Monica spent years praying for her son, Augustine, who eventually became one of the Church’s greatest saints. Her story reminds us that evangelization often begins with prayer. We can’t make someone believe, but we can entrust them to Jesus and ask Him to work in their hearts.

So, who is your one? Who is the person you’re praying would come to know and follow Jesus?

Join us in praying the St. Monica Novena, and let’s entrust our “ones” to Jesus together. 🙏

“There’s such a sense of peace present when I come to Magnificat Night.”

We’ve been thinking about those words from a person who was at Magnificat Night last Friday. Setting aside an evening to worship, pray, and be in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament truly brings a peace that is different from anything else we experience.

Last week, in addition to worship and adoration, we heard a moving reflection from OLP parishioner Janet Anderson, which touched our hearts and gave us things to continue reflecting on throughout the week.

Magnificat Night happens the first Friday of each month at 6 pm. If you’ve never joined us, we hope you’ll find your way to one of these evenings sometime soon.

At the end of last month, members of the Our Lady of Peace community joined volunteers from neighboring churches for our annual Habitat for Humanity build week. Together, the team helped raise the walls of a new home in Bloomington, bringing hope and stability to a local family.

Thank you to everyone who generously gave their time and talents to serve our neighbors and put their faith into action. We are grateful for your witness and the difference you're making in our community.
