Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church

Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church We believe there’s enough grace, space, courage, hope, and to share with everyone. RIC, ELCA The New Branches building is an accessible space.

Our vision -- Enough for Everyone -- shapes our congregation's bold mission: We are called and transformed to create a world of abundance. We’re invested in this community, and are part of the larger Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). As a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation, our LGBTQIA+ siblings are welcomed into our shared journey. Beyond our walls, we’re actively involved with

efforts to address food insecurity, the lack of affordable housing, and ways to impact racial injustice. Our congregation is also part of New Branches – a unique, ecumenical building partnership of three congregations, deeply rooted in faith and focused on possibilities.

We are excited to welcome Irene Amon as our new Visitation Minister. Irene is faithful, relational, and it is a joy to be in her presence.

Irene writes: “I am a final-year PhD student at Fuller Theological Seminary, nearing completion of my PhD in intercultural studies, with a major in leadership and missiology (mission). Born into a home where two ministers led a congregation and engaged in missionary work across different regions of Ghana, I was introduced to ministry at a very young age. For over three decades, I have been immersed in ministry, serving and leading in various departments and fellowships. As an ordained minister, I have served in both my home country (Ghana) and the USA."

This week in worship we give thanks for Pastor Angela Denker and the ministry we have shared with her in the Lake Nokomis Lutheran faith community. Pastor Angela has shared her compassion, her boldness, and her faith generously with us. We bless and send her now to a call to Public Theology in the church and world.

In worship on Aug. 23 we shared this video of highlights from our Annual Family Camp. This is truly a special time for our kids, youth and families. Thank you Lake Nokomis Lutheran for prioritizing these experiences and for your generous financial gifts that make them happen.
