Graduate & Faculty Christian Fellowship at the University of Minnesota

Graduate & Faculty Christian Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Our group consists of graduate students from a wide range of academic disciplines and denominational backgrounds.

Graduate & Faculty Christian Fellowship at the University of Minnesota is a multi-ethnic community of graduate students through faculty: becoming like Jesus, inviting people to relationship with God and others, and integrating faith and academics. Graduate Christian Fellowship is a group of graduate students at the University of Minnesota who are committed to an ever-deeper understanding of what it means to walk with God while living and working in the university. What connects us is our common love and commitment to Jesus Christ and our desire to bring his life and words to bear on our studies, the university, and the challenges of our time. We believe that being Christian graduate students is about more than just survival in a secular academy and goes beyond preparation for future ministry. We believe that our faith has something significant to say about how we study and practice our respective disciplines, and that our disciplines can teach us more about our Creator. Our challenge as a group is to understand the interplay of faith and scholarship in a way that is true to the rigors and standards of modern academia, while also remaining true to the essence and standards of our Christian faith.

Do you ever wish that someone understood you? Have you had a conversation where you felt truly seen? What if you could become that kind of person who makes other people feel known? This summer, join our Book Club to read and discuss New York Times bestseller How to Know a Person by journalist David Brooks. You can look forward to leveling up on your relational skills and making new friends throughout this book club!

The book is an easy and enjoyable summer read. As a journalist for the New York Times, David Brooks communicates thought-provoking ideas with great stories and you’ll want to apply it right away. Each week, we’ll read about two chapters and pair it with a Bible passage or other reading. We’ll also share the reflection questions ahead of time, so you can reflect on your own before sharing with the group.
