CBE collaborates with global

pastors, churches, institutions, and NGOs to eliminate sexism, racism, misogyny, gender-based violence, and human trafficking; to raise the status of women; and to promote human flourishing. We educate and advocate through online multimedia resources (in many languages), journals, blogs, podcasts, radio spots, articles, videos, and audios in addition to local chapters and yearly conferences.

“Oh, that Southern Baptists would wake up to their responsibilities!” –Lottie Moon

As the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) doubles down on restricting women preachers, teachers, and leaders, one wonders if we’re reading the same Bible. How can a Bible-centric organization like the SBC reconcile silencing and sidelining women, given the many examples of Bible women who preach, teach, and lead from Genesis to Revelation?

📖 The "S" Word: Understanding Submission

"‘Submission’ has become a loaded word. Misused and misunderstood, submission is often rejected in mainstream culture, being equated with passiveness and weakness. Christians who grow up in and break free from controlling hierarchical communities also tend to struggle with submission after seeing it implemented abusively and unilaterally. As they come out of churches that twist and distort Scripture, many don’t know what to do with Paul’s teachings on the subject1 and may find themselves skipping over challenging passages and texts when reading the Bible.” Carrie Silveira
