Twenty five years ago the towers came down. Still and now our world is fragile and resilient.

Grief is meant to be felt and honored.

On this anniversary of 9/11 and as we mark a week since the shootings in Minneapolis, let us pause, feel, and notice how it feels to be connected to all that is.

God is in the midst of the Cosmos. As the Word made flesh, so too are we.

Pastor Elizabeth

Grounding in Faith with Rev. Elizabeth Macaulay

We are in a Season of Creation.

The United Methodist Church has joined other faith partners in naming September as a time when we collectively give mind and heart to the power of our relationship with creation. To that end, our sanctuary is adorned with live trees and plants, our youth are planning a Blessing of the Animals on September 27th, and each Sunday we consider elemental aspects of our being as creatures on this God blessed earth.

We are perpetually in a season of creation.

Here at Hennepin Ave UMC we are excited to Kick Off the new program year. There is a guide for you to peruse (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b4gq91X24F2LAuMmVc03K9JdB-3MU8Qt/view?usp=drive_link) and decide how you want to engage in life here. Jump in! There are small groups and classes and ministry opportunities for each and for all.

This Sunday (September 13th) we will gather for worship at 10:00 AM. If you want to sing in the choir, come at 9:00 AM for Community Sing Sunday. After worship we'll have a ministry fair in Carlson Hall and a party out in the parking lot with the Brass Messengers. There will be brats and hot dogs and bubbles and bounce house and ice cream and joy all around.

Listen. The world needs the joyful and gritty witness of disciples of Jesus. We are in a Season of Creation.

Doesn't that feel good?

See you Sunday!

Pastor Elizabeth

Writing Faith in Fiction w/ Larry Webb **NEW**
Tuesdays | Sept 22–Oct 20 | 6:15-8pm | Room 106

Are you a writer and passionate about the power of writing? Then join this small gathering of other writers as we explore how we can express human values and faith through our fiction.

During the series, each participant will create and share (via the printed page) a few brief “incidents” of dramatic situations showing how values and faith affect a story. Our shared norm for these short compositions we bring will be “rough first-draft, imperfect mode” — just to get the ideas and discussions flowing. This will be an in-person event series, open to adults and high-school-age persons. Please note that this is not a “how-to” workshop. It will be an opportunity for each of us to stretch writerly skills in a supportive, non-critical harbor, and to get to know other creative folks.

To reserve a spot or for more information, please contact Larry Webb ([email protected]) Space is limited.
