Great stories don’t just entertain — they reflect real human struggles, relationships, and growth. In this interactive session, you’ll discover how to use key theories from human development and family studies to create multidimensional characters and craft meaningful, believable conflict. Learn how developmental milestones, attachment styles, and family dynamics can shape your characters’ motivations, fears, and choices — and how to leverage those insights to design story arcs that resonate deeply with readers. Whether you write fiction or creative nonfiction, you’ll leave with practical tools to breathe life into your characters and heighten emotional impact in every scene.

To join our group you must be a ACFW member.

The clock struck midnight, yet Cinderella was given a second chance when the prince came to visit after the ball was over. But the deadline to enter the Carol Awards is 4 PM Central Time on March 1st, and there are no second chances. It’s a firm deadline because of the many layers of the judging process and publicity opportunities for the finalists and winners. You haven’t entered yet? The clock is ticking.
