Sunday, September 13, will be a busy day at Gustavus Adolphus!
* We'll begin worship by blessing our new boiler system;
* Worship will include Blessing of Backpacks...folks of all ages are invited to bring their backpacks to have them blessed for the new school year;
* After worship we will have "God's Work. Our Hands" activities, packing Care Kits for Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota;
* Also after worship, we'll enjoy a neighborhood block party with food and games for all ages.

God’s Work. Our Hands. Sunday is September 13, 2026. This year we will be packing Self Care Kits for LSS. Our goal is to back 30 kits, which means we need 240 items donated between August 30- September 13, 2026.

Self-Care Kits are a simple yet powerful way to support direct service providers, guardians, foster care providers, older adults, adults with identified needs and individuals exiting homelessness. These individuals commonly face significant emotional and physical challenges, making self-care essential to their well-being. Filled with stress-relief items, hygiene essentials and relaxation tools, these kits provide comfort, encouragement, and a sense of dignity for caregivers and those rebuilding their lives.

Please donate any of the following items. Six to eight items will be packed together and need to fit into a 2-gallon zip lock bag. Please look for travel size items. Bring your items to church on Sunday, August 30, September 6, or September 13 - and we'll pack them together into kits on the 13th of September.

Bodywash or soap
Lotion or body butter
Hair ties or scrunchies
Soft washcloth or loofah
Lip balm
Face masks (sheet or cream-based)
Hand sanitizer
Travel-size tissues
Herbal tea
Essential oils or roll-on stress relief blends
Candles (if scented, keep it light and natural)
Heating or cooling eye mask
Reusable water bottle
Beef jerky or protein bar
Puzzle book (sudoku, crossword or brain teasers)
Stress ball or fidget toy
