CHANGE IN NEXT WEDNESDAY'S SOCIAL JUSTICE FORUM!!!
Wednesday, June 17th
5:30pm Forum Potluck at Rev. Rebecca's house
6:30pm Leave for The Doctrine at Riverview Theater
A potluck, kinship, and strategizing.
Anyone interested in justice work at Lyndale are invited to gather together to have a potluck and talk about how we might better coordinate all the asks and needs of this moment. The Social Justice Forum worked to create a space for that kind of sharing and more intersectionally-focused work during the Poor People's campaign. And we are continuing amidst all the chaos and terror that is happening currently and the need for creative and sacred trouble-making and holding onto each other.
Join us for this important film screening and Q&A conversation to follow with filmmaker Gwendolen Cates, and featured activists Mitch Walking Elk and and Nina Berglund. The Doctrine explores the legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery on driving violence against Indigenous Peoples, land, and water in the Americas and around the world. The central narrative follows a group of Indigenous youth from the Twin Cities who travel to the Vatican to confront the Catholic Church about the Doctrine and its legacy. The film exposes how the Doctrine has targeted communities of color around the world for centuries, and still today enables corporate forces driving the climate crisis. Tickets $10 in advance or at the door.
