Dear Beloved Communities,
Plans for Winter Witchcamp 2025 are under way. Camp will be held February 7-11, 2025 in northern Minnesota, 90 minutes from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. At this all ages hybrid camp, we honor the Reclaiming Principles of Unity and the conscious co-creation of the world in which we live. You can learn more about the values and culture of Winter Witchcamp at winterwitchcamp.org.

The theme for Winter Witchcamp 2025 is Caring for Ourselves as Roots of our Sacred Tree. Our 2025 teaching team will consist of both onsite and online teachers, including onsite continuity teacher Yule Danu, 4 other onsite teachers, 4 on-line teachers and one onsite student teacher for the ritual arts path.

2025 Winter Witchcamp would like to offer four paths: one in-person, two hybrid and one on-line. We would like to have an Elements of Magic path as one of the hybrid offerings. One of the hybrid paths will be a ritual arts path charged with planning the evening rituals. This path will ideally be taught by two experienced onsite teachers, one onsite student teacher and one online teacher. Teachers will be given free admission to camp. Additional compensation is to be determined. Travel costs are not able to be paid. Teachers should be prepared to use a microphone as needed at camp to meet WWC's commitment to accessibility.

If you are interested in teaching at Winter Witchcamp 2025, please send a statement of interest to [email protected], with the subject line Call for 2025 Winter Witchcamp Teachers, no later than midnight CST on Sunday September 22nd. Please include in your statement:
how teaching at Winter Witchcamp calls to you;
your relationship to Winter Witchcamp;
what skills and experience you are best able to offer our camp community;
whether you are applying to teach online or in-person, as well as your experience teaching in a hybrid format;
whether you have any specific path ideas or are called to teach either elements or ritual arts;
if interested in ritual arts, include your experience with ritual planning and whether you are applying to be an experienced teacher or a student teacher;
if you have a preferred teaching partner; and
how you connect to the theme: Caring for Ourselves as Roots of our Sacred Tree.
If selected to teach, you must commit to a minimum of monthly zoom meetings from October to February, as well as arriving at camp on February 6, 2025, one day prior to campers arrival. We will be extending invitations to our teaching team the last week of September.
Blessings from the land of beauty, snow, cold, and ice!

The UMRR Teacher’s Cell is pleased to announce and celebrate Rae Eden's completed apprenticeship to becoming a teacher in the UMRR Teacher’s Cell. Rae has shown commitment and integrity as she has progressed through this process. We are fortunate to have Rae as teacher. Join us in celebrating this achievement. See below for the requirements of becoming a teacher and Rae’s letter describing her achievement and her intentions for being a teacher. Thank you, Rae!

The process of becoming a member of the UMRR Teacher’s Cell is outlined on the UMRR website under Pathway to Teaching https://upper-mississippi-river-reclaiming.org/pathway-to-teaching/. The process is:

There are several paths by which a person may develop the level of experience necessary to be a Reclaiming Teacher in the UMRR Teaching Cell.

Ā· Take 4 of 5 of the core Reclaiming courses, student teach at least 3 core classes with 2 or more different Reclaiming teachers in this or another Reclaiming community, and be vouched for by those teachers; or

Ā· Teach or student teach 3 or more times at Witchcamps, which have exterior selection committees and be vouched for by their co-teachers; or

Ā· An additional alternative path is for someone to have taught an equivalent body of work, be familiar with the Reclaiming tradition and practices, and be vouched for by at least two Reclaiming teachers.

Here is Rae’s statement:

As stated in the ā€œWe Areā€ statement, (I am) an evolving, welcoming….witch….working to integrate daily life, spiritual practice and earth-based activism….. and (I have) gifts which strengthen the whole.ā€ My spirituality is intertwined with nature, community and the pursuit of justice. The Principles of Unity state, ā€œOur practice arises from a deep, spiritual commitment to the earth, to healing and to the linking of magic with political action.ā€ It is my intention, through my work as a Reclaiming Witch and Teacher to support these practices in my local community and beyond.

Having served as an apprentice teacher for the past 5 years I have gained valuable skills and insights, opening up to who I am and stepping more fully into being myself. In addition to ā€œstudentā€ teaching local Reclaiming core classes, during this time, I have also taught at 2 WitchCamps and been initiated in Reclaiming. I am also a member of an International Reclaiming Teachers in Training group, facilitated by Jane Meredith, that meets for online training sessions every 4-6 months. In addition, I continue to participate in classes and workshops offered by Reclaiming teachers and the broader community. For example, I am currently enrolled in a class, ā€œRadical Roots – Reawakening for These Times,ā€ with Gede Parma (Fio) and G. Ravyn Stanfield.

In regards to meeting the requirements to be an UMRR teacher I have taught 4 of the 5 core classes and I agree to teach Rites of Passage with a teacher that has previously taught that specific class. I have an understanding of the Principles of Unity, and was part of a small group that discussed the POU paragraph by paragraph over the course of a year, ending our study in a session at Paganicon where we invited community into a discussion of sacred texts.

My special areas of interest are in meditation and movement-based modalities. I bring these skills to the classes that I teach. I have also recently taken up the frame drum and hope this will lend to another ritual skill I can offer community. I am involved in community in many ways, both inside and outside of Reclaiming. My commitment to Reclaiming community is shown through involvement in meetings concerning the restructuring of Winter WitchCamp, co-hosting the spring community collaborative gathering and maintaining personal relationships with Reclaiming Witches, that foster the development of community. Finally, I can make a commitment to serve on the Teaching cell for two years.

I am honored to have found a community that supports my growth and allows my gifts to shine and strengthen the whole.

Thanks Rae, on behalf of Teacher's Cell

a few bits to highlight:

* ā€œtransform yourself to transform the worldā€, grace lee boggs’ wisdom is literal right now. this virus doesn’t stop because of blame, pointing at other people’s faults, or races/ethnicities. it only stops, or slows, because each individual increases their own accountability to the collective. people have suggested different songs for hand washing time, to help stay in the sink long enough to do an adequate job. i found this bit of magic with the ā€˜fear is the mind killer’ guidance from Dune that i love. i am also often just saying a little universe prayer – ā€œwith this handwashing i align with the universe, with this handwashing i wage love, with this handwashing i care for [here i insert the names of elders and compromised immune systems i cherish].ā€ i am transforming my own behaviors through practice and repetition.

'The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.' – camus…documenting my liberation
