"Seek the well-being of the city to which I have sent you. For in seeking its well-being, you shall find your own." --Jeremiah 29:7

A place of worship. More than just a beautiful building, The Basilica of Saint Mary is a gathering place of rich diversity. It's a center for the ar

ts and a place of refuge for people in need. It's a community committed to the growth and well-being of the city. Together, we celebrate weddings, baptisms and funerals, Christmas and Easter, and weekend Eucharist. With over 6,700 households, we have an active vision for social outreach. Vincent de Paul society offers compassionate assistance for basic needs since 1988. We offer mentoring, direct service, employment support and partner with community non-profits. Relationship support is offered to strengthen stability in life through Pathways Life Skills. Our John XXIII Art Gallery features local, national and international artists work, and music is available to all through our Spirit and Soul celebration of Black History Month, the Minnesota Sinfonia, The Singers, The Rose Ensemble and others who offer free and low-cost concerts. For more information, visit our website at www.mary.org. Adults in their 20s and 30s may also find information on the Basilica Young Adults page at www.facebook.com/groups/byoungadults.

Crews from American Masonry are carefully tuckpointing every interior mortar joint throughout the church. The existing mortar is removed and replaced with new mortar to secure the 4-inch-thick Mankato limestone and help preserve the structural integrity of the building.
Once the stone is stabilized, a specialized cleaning material is applied to the surface. After it cures, the material is carefully peeled away, lifting embedded soot and particulate deposits that have accumulated over the past century and revealing the natural beauty of the limestone beneath.

The Basilica Altar Guild meets on the second Saturday of each month from 11:00am to 1:00pm. We work behind the scenes to clean, polish, restore, and ensure that all items used for liturgy are properly maintained. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow members of our community while helping keep our space beautiful. Join us in Teresa of Calcutta Hall on June 13!

As the United States of America commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, the USCCB joins this celebration by lifting up the contributions of Catholics and the impact of our faith on the history of this country.

In a historic moment, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11, 2026, and invite all parishes to join in this consecration.

In anticipation of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, The Basilica of Saint Mary will participate in the consecration at all Masses, Sunday, June 7.
