Devotional
How can we Please God? We can’t earn his favor by our works or be righteous enough on our own to please God. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we can please God. It is only through His righteousness that we are made worthy to enter into His presence.

Scripture Reference
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV)

How do I apply this to my life?
As Christians, we need to pursue God through faith. It is not enough to just acknowledge that He is God, but we need to believe by faith that He is who He says He is and diligently seek a relationship with Him. Remember that without faith it is impossible to please Him.

Devotional
Like the apostle Paul, we will all face trials and tribulation as we prepare to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others around us. When this happens, we have two choices. We can either give in to the fear we are facing, or we can start fighting the battle on our knees.

Scripture Reference
2nd Corinthians 7:5
For indeed, when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears. (NKJV)

How do I apply this to my life?
As we prepare to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, we will face spiritual battles. The devil will try to stop us from doing what God has called us to do. Sometimes it can be subtle and other times we may face fierce opposition. Either way, the best defensive position is on our knees in prayer.

Devotional
In this world that we are living in, there are plenty of things that we can find to worry about, but the truth is, worrying will not get us anywhere. The fact is most of the things that people worry about will either never happen or we just simply have no control over.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:27
Which of you can make himself a little taller by worrying? (NLV)

How do I apply this to my life?
As Christians, we should worry less and enjoy life more. The devil would like nothing more than to steal our joy by causing us to worry all the time. Sit back and remember that God is in control. If we are trusting in Him, we will have a lot less to worry about.

Devotional
Have you ever made plans, only to have them interrupted by something totally out of your control? The fact is, no matter what we do, it is still God who is in control. One of my wife’s favorite lines is “If you want to make God laugh, just tell Him your plans.”

Scripture Reference
James 4:13
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow [a]we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; (NKJV)

How do I apply this to my life?
Though we may make the plans, it is still God who knows what the outcome will be. There is nothing wrong with planning, but we need to remember that things may change, and that God might have a greater plan for us that does not line up with our plans.

Devotional
As Christians, it is important to gather together as believers. Though we meet on the Lord’s Day, we should also gather often to fellowship with one another outside the church building. As we do life together, we also strengthen our relationship with the Lord and with the family of God.

Scripture Reference
Acts 2:42
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ [a]doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. (NKJV)

How do I apply this to my life?
Remember that as Christian’s we are the church. We are not defined by the four walls where we meet as a congregation, but by our relationship with our Lord and Savior. We are all related to one another by the blood of Jesus Christ. We are His children!

Devotional
Have you ever had something that was so urgent that it just couldn’t wait till tomorrow? The fact is we are not promised tomorrow. As Christians, we should consider this when we are sharing the gospel. We need to make it a priority to do it today and not put it off till another day.

Scripture Reference
2nd Corinthians 6:2
For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

How do I apply this to my life?
Remember that sharing the good news of Jesus Christ should be a high priority in our lives. It is not enough to just talk about doing it if we are not willing to be proactive and sharing the message today. Why wait till tomorrow to share the greatest news ever.

Devotional
As Christians, we are called to be active in ministry. Jesus didn’t call us to just sit and wait for the people to come to our churches, but instead He called us to go out and make disciples. The problem is that there are so many people to reach and those who are active in ministry are few.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 9:37
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. (NKJV)

How do I apply this to my life?
Are you active in ministry? Are you a laborer in the field? You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to minister to others. We simply need to ask the Lord to lead us to people who need salvation and be obedient to what He has called us to do. The harvest is truly plentiful.

Devotional
How often are you praising the LORD? Throughout the Bible we read of people praising Him for various reasons and at various times. When they are happy, they are praising Him. Even as they were going through hard times, they would praise the LORD.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 22:22
I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You. (NKJV)

How do I apply this to my life?
As Christians, we should be praising the LORD in every aspect of our lives. Though we may not always feel joyful, there are always reasons that we can praise the LORD. If anything, we can praise Him for all that He has done in our lives and for our salvation.

05/14/2022

Devotional
As Christians, we need to be an example to people of who Jesus Christ is. People are watching us to see how we live our live, and though it may be hard at times the apostle Paul gives us two keys as to how we can be an effective witness for Jesus Christ.

Scripture Reference
1st Thessalonians 5:21-22
Test everything and do not let good things get away from you. 22 Keep away from everything that even looks like sin. (NLV)

How do I apply this to my life?
There is a fine line between what sin is and what people think sin is. As Christians, we need to be aware of this. If a person thinks something is a sin and we do that, then we damage our witness for the Lord, and in doing so, we have led them astray and that is a sin.

Devotional
Could you imagine feasting with the master? As fishers of men, there is a great reward waiting for us in heaven for the work we have done. I believe that Jesus has a feast waiting for us in heaven just like He had waiting for His disciples, and the invitation is open to all who call upon His name.

Scripture Reference
John 21:9
Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. (NKJV)

How do I apply this to my life?
Remember to take time to engage with others around you. You might learn something about them, and you might even make some new friends. Sometimes all it takes is a warm smile and a listening ear to engage people in a conversation that can lead to you sharing the gospel with them.

05/11/2022

Devotional
As fishers of men, we need to realize that there is a great multitude of people that do not know Jesus. One of the largest growing numbers in the US census are those who don’t identify with any religious group. These are just a few of the people that Jesus wants us to go and share the gospel message with.

Scripture Reference
John 21:6
And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. (NKJV)

How do I apply this to my life?
As you go out into the world, there is no shortage of people to share the gospel with. My challenge to you is first to ask Jesus to point out those who need to hear the gospel message. My second challenge is to be obedient and build a relationship with them and share the gospel with them.

Devotional
Though fish may fill your stomach for a while, Jesus had something greater to offer Peter and Andrew. He would give them the bread of life. He had something that would feed their souls for eternity. They would do more than cast the nets in the water. They would become fishers of men.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 4:19
Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (NKJV)

How do I apply this to my life?
As Christians, we need to be searching for people that have a hunger that can’t be filled with just three meals a day. We need to look for those who are hungry for something more. Remember that everyone has a hole inside of them that can only be filled by Jesus and His love for them.
