Hey there everyone! I wanted to let you know that another Christian apologist named Natasha Crain has just released Faithfully Different: Regaining Biblical Clarity in a Secular Culture. I had the privilege of listening to her lecture on some of the content this summer. It was enlightening, to say the least.

Go get the book!

Welcome to Your Place in a Worldview Minority In an increasingly secular society, those who have a biblical worldview are now a shrinking minority. As mainstream culture grows more hostile toward the Bible’s truths and those who embrace them, you’ll face mounting pressures—from family, friends...

Christians need to understand the concept of worldview and how their cultures are shaped. This post just scratches the surface of the dominant American understanding of reality. The Netflix worldview.

Every year the Cultural Research Center (CRC) at Arizona Christian University puts out the American Worldview Inventory (AWI). The AWI is designed to show what kind of worldview shapes Americans’ view of the world. In 2021 the AWI revealed that very few Americans hold a consistent worldview. That ...

I read 1 and 2 Thessalonians this morning, and it occurred to me that 2 Thes. 2:15-17 is a very concise description of walking out our faith. Sometimes we Christians can overcomplicate our faith walk in ways that are not helpful for the long race we are running. Fortunately, the apostle Paul simplifies it very well.

How do we walk out our faith?

Paul says in verse 15, "So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter."

So, to "stand strong and hold firm," we must study Scripture, pray, and participate in Christian community. We must commit to understanding who Christ is and the good news of his promises.

In verses 16 and 17, Paul assures us that Jesus will help us along our journey, saying, "May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word."

According to Paul, in order to stand firm, we will need to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit through intercession on our behalf by Jesus, which is the will of the Father. This is excellent news! The entire Trinity is working to strengthen us as we navigate this life.

And how does all of that happen?

It's pretty simple. Just add "ing." By studying Scripture, praying, and participating in Christian community. By committing to understanding who Christ is and the good news of his promises.

Why do humans universally believe a good action is better than an evil one?

01/26/2022

I have been thinking about something recently that I'd like to share regarding humility before God. It seems to me the fact that we are sinful should not be the primary reason humanity should be humble before God. Instead, the fact that we are creations should bring about humility.

As I watched my kids play with their playmobiles the other day. It occurred to me that the difference between a playmobile and a human is not as stark as the difference between a human and God. Not even close, actually. Because as great as my kids are compared to the lifeless plastic toys, my kids are not all that powerful. They are of average intelligence for human children. And, so far as I know, they are not infinitely good.

On the other hand, God is infinitely powerful, all-knowing, and perfectly good. He thought of all of us before the universe was made down to the cellular level.

So, our humility and reverence for God should first flow from an understanding that He is the Creator and we are merely creatures.
