On the fourth night of Chanukah, we will light five candles. The number five holds powerful meaning in our world—our five senses, five fingers and toes, and so many other examples that reflect our connection to the divine. Five also symbolizes change, adventure, and the exploration of new possibilities.

In Sharing the Light, we will use yoga to explore our inner needs. Through movement and breathwork, we will gently challenge our bodies' capabilities and open space to uncover what lies beneath the mind, fear, or the chaos that comes from a society built on control. Together, we’ll journey inward to rediscover the light within each of us—whether it appears as sound, movement, stillness, or simply the comfort of being in community.
This space is designed to hold us safely, individually and collectively, as we reconnect with our inner light.

Expanding Gender in Kabbalah Workshop
Rabbi Michaela Brown
Sunday, October 26, from 2:45 - 4:15 PM
St. Paul Location
Kabbalah, the core of Jewish mysticism and many of its texts, including the Zohar, are historically linked to medieval times. The 10 Sephirot ("Eminences") that make up the Divine are the building blocks of Kabbalistic thought. The rabbis' descriptions of the Ten include their associations with a distinct duo of Masculine and Feminine.
What does it mean to engage with these concepts in the 21st century, where we have scholarship that dismantles gender binaries and broad acceptance of romantic/sexual intimacy between people of the same gender?
Let's embark on the messy work of making sense of an old, yet rich mystical system, while bringing our own modern sensibilities. We'll learn some basics of the Sephirot system and notice how the gender binary of Kabbalah isn't as static as it first appears.
People of all genders and sexualities welcome; all participants must participate in a way that affirms LGBTQ+ identity.
