we gather for our traditional worship service in the Sanctuary. Following a more formal style, traditional church hymns are sung, robes are worn, and liturgy is used. This service achieves serenity, while being spiritually uplifting. A Care Room is available in the rear of the Sanctuary for parents with young children.

Minerva Community Meals Needs Volunteers

Minerva Community Meals, which serves the Minerva (and surrounding) area is looking for volunteers. Specifically for the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month. Our current cooks have to retire from that position at the end of October. Now is the perfect time to volunteer. You can come and train with them and learn the menus, procedures, and where everything in the kitchen is. You can volunteer with your spouse or a friend if you want to know your partner. If we get 2 separate individuals we’ll pair you up.

Cooks need about 3 hours per morning shift. Menus are pre-determined, food and recipes are provided. All volunteers work in pairs and are trained to do their respective jobs.

This service also needs drivers to deliver the meals. We have had a rash of illnesses that have hit our delivering pool. There are some of us that have been doing double duty the last few weeks. We really need the community’s help. Deliveries take about 1-1 1/2 hours. Meals are picked up at the church and go out about 11:00. Drivers usually work 1 day a week.

Minerva Community Meals is similar to Meals on Wheels but we do not receive any government funding. We charge the clients $3.00 a meal and we do accept donations to cover the costs of the meals. All of our cooks and drivers are volunteers.

Minerva Community Meals has been cooking and delivering meals for 50 years here in Minerva. Shut-ins, the elderly, and folks who are recuperating from surgeries and hospital stays are all on our client list. At this time we are fixing about 32 meals a day, 5 days a week.

All meals are prepared and picked up at the First Presbyterian Church. If interested call the church (330-868-5230) to be put in contact with the right people.

This Saturday is the Camp Cookout at Camp LiMRod. It's a chance to have fun, meet some fellow Presbyterians, and think about how we are part of the Body of Christ in the local Church.

Camp LiMRod belongs to First United Presbyterian Church of Alliance, but it is located in Minerva. If you haven't been there before, here are some directions (as Google Maps does not take you to the right location).

Directions to Camp LiMRod
Go East on 172 at the light in New Franklin
Drive about 1 mile past Chambersburg and turn left onto 12th St
Continue, bearing to the right, to 6785 12th St. Minerva, Ohio
Camp LiMRod will be on the left.
Take the camp road on your left up the hill and through the woods to the main camp

For those would like to caravan or carpool over, lets meet in the church parking lot at 11:30am

First Presbyterian Church of Alliance is providing the hamburgers. You are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share and a camping chair. But the most important thing is that you come!
