I always assumed being doubly exceptional (2e) that micro aggressions rooted in autism were more harmful than those rooted in giftedness. I’ve rarely been more wrong. 🥲
The most common micro aggressions for autistics are that they are “articulate” and “high-functioning”, as if we are to be valued based on our executive functioning skills.
But I’ve received “praise” for over 40 years for being “smarter than everyone else”, always talking over others’ heads, “too smart”, “scary smart”, “on a different level” and many more comments. Do you know where i belong?
On an island whose bridges I have burned to stop the “praise” I have received all these years.
Scripturally speaking , the power and advantage of godly intelligence per 1 Corinthians 1:26 is clear. But in reality, apart from Him I am alone. I can’t compare to God and I am incomprehensible to all others. Yet I stand helpless to face the rising tides of ignorance, apathy and self-serving orthodoxy and orthopraxy. And when my once “beautiful mind” can’t overcome the board of directors that have initiated a hostile takeover, whatever is left isn’t worth getting when the scavengers come 🥲
