I am very thankful for all of the hard work that the church family put in today. We are working to make God’s buildings and property a reflection of His grace and glory. I am blessed to pastor such wonderful, hard working people. Thank you church for loving and serving Jesus. See you in the morning for Sunday school and church. Have a great Saturday evening.

Due to the enormous amounts of smoke in our city and surrounding areas, GLBC will be cancelling service for tonight. We will be praying at 6:30pm as a church for all of our first responders, those who have been and are being affected by the fire as well as for lots of rain. Please join us in praying at 6:30pm. God bless to all of our community and please stay safe.

Why You Should Bring Your Actual Bible to Church 💒📖

There’s something happening when a room full of people open the same book at the same time…pages turning, verses underlined, notes in the margins from ten years ago.

I love to hear pages turning when we open up our copies of God’s Word. It thrills my heart!

I realize that God’s Word can be just as effective on a screen than it can in a leather book but I do believe that there is something more reverent about bringing your Bible to worship.

Here are some reasons:

1️⃣ You can’t underline a verse on your phone and have it still be there when your grandkids find your Bible after you’re gone.

2️⃣ Your phone has 40 notifications competing for your attention during the sermon. Your Bible has zero.

3️⃣ When you write the date and what God taught you in the margin, you’re building a spiritual journal, not a search history.

4️⃣ Turning pages teaches your kids what it looks like to hunt for truth. Swiping teaches them nothing.
(We are impacting the next generation by just bringing our Bibles to church)

5️⃣ A worn, marked-up Bible in your hand preaches a sermon of its own before you ever say a word.

6️⃣ You don’t check your email in the middle of a battle. Don’t check it in the middle of a sermon either.

Bring the Book.

Love the Book.

Study the Book.
