Mothers give their very best... EVERY day, all year through. We set aside today to celebrate the gift that they are to us... today we honor them... today we bless them... today we say a special thank you for all of their unconditional love and the sacrifices they make. Not just to those who have given birth to children, but also to those that willingly accept, take on the responsibility and actively function in the Mother role to love and care for God’s precious gift of children. Mother’s Day love and blessings to you ❤️

She is strong and respected and not afraid of the future. She speaks with a gentle wisdom. She is always busy and looks after her family's needs.... Give her credit for all she does. She deserves the respect of everyone. Proverbs ‭31:25-27, 31‬

The Trees: Part of Hope Lutheran Church’s History

The larger tree in the background, shown in bloom, is a flowering crabapple tree planted around 1973, the time the church was built.

The light green tree is a linden tree planted in 2006 in memory of James “Parm” Harris. The Harris family donated the land where the church now stands. Parm played a significant role in guiding the church and was a strong influence for many years.

The smaller blooming tree is another flowering crabapple, planted last October in memory of James Witmer Harris. Like his father, Parm, he was deeply dedicated to supporting Hope Lutheran Church in every way and will be greatly missed.

🌺Additionally, a poppy flower was planted this spring in honor of Jim and all veterans.

Holy Week is a time to reflect on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Remembering Jesus' actions, reflecting on his messages and recommitting to living as his disciples in the world today.
We hope this schedule helps you plan to observe these important days, both on your own and with others. May you have a blessed Holy Week and Easter.

Some of the most transformative experiences in life arise from the challenges we encounter. These challenges may not align with our expectations or desires, but ultimately, they shape us into stronger, wiser individuals, fostering a deeper sense of faith. Viewing challenges from a beneficial perspective helps us to see the valuable lessons and growth opportunities they offer. Change comes as a result of enduring and overcoming the challenges.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James‬ ‭1:2-4‬

We willingly accept the ups in life, but we tend to despise the downs. If we never had any challenges and life was all sunshine, how would we grow? Provision is plentiful in the valley, but because it's not the provision we desire or expect, we tend to overlook it because we are so focused on wallowing in the depths of despair. Valley experiences are meant to build us and prepare us for the greater good God has in store for us. When we can see and be thankful for what we receive in the valley it gives us a greater sense of appreciation once we get to the mountain top.

Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4

The month of February is recognized as heart month. Valentine’s Day is celebrated on the 14th. During this time of year, many of us are thinking about how we can demonstrate love toward a person we care about or a family member. It can also be a time to reflect on how we are caring for our own heart. It’s something God would want us to do.
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23
Guarding your heart means to forgive others who may have hurt you…. to let go of any anger, bitterness and resentment toward another that you may have and to release their hurtful behavior or words they may have spoken to you to God.
It means being mindful of what you think about. Our minds and heart are intricately connected. What we think about affects our inner spirit and heart. The scriptures tell us to think about things that are pure and right and heavenly. When we do this, it creates a healthy environment for the rest of the body. In almost magical ways, these good thoughts sink deep into our being and have an impact on our nervous system and endocrine system. The hormones that are released in our bodies when we think good thoughts are heart-healthy, as opposed to the harmful hormones that are released when we are thinking negative thoughts.
Decide to have a cheerful heart. By attending to your thoughts, forgiving others and meditating on God’s truths, you can more easily have a cheerful mindset. This is health-promoting.
Happy Heart Month ❤️
