Faith in Action: Bring a Can, Lend a Hand!

Every Sunday is Donation Sunday!

Help us keep the shelves stocked at the Iowa County Food Pantry by making a simple weekly habit part of your worship.

🛒 Bring a non-perishable item to church each Sunday and place it in the collection cart in the church narthex before or after worship.

Most-needed items include:
🥫 Canned tuna, chicken, salmon & peanut butter
🥫 Soups, stews, fruits, vegetables & beans
🍚 Rice, pasta, oatmeal & breakfast cereal
📦 Macaroni & cheese and other boxed meals

Please make sure donations are non-perishable, unexpired, and sturdy (no glass jars).

One item. Small habit. Big impact.
Together, we can help fill the shelves and share God’s love with our neighbors in need. ❤️

At this morning's Hope Lutheran Church Council meeting, our devotion came from a poem that was originally shared in a Hope Lutheran bulletin back in 1993.

More than 30 years later, its message still speaks to the busyness of everyday life and gently reminds us to make time for what matters most—our relationship with Christ, prayer, and sharing His love with others.

As you go about your week, we invite you to take a few moments to read this poem and reflect on the words of Galatians 2:20:

Mothers give their very best... EVERY day, all year through. We set aside today to celebrate the gift that they are to us... today we honor them... today we bless them... today we say a special thank you for all of their unconditional love and the sacrifices they make. Not just to those who have given birth to children, but also to those that willingly accept, take on the responsibility and actively function in the Mother role to love and care for God’s precious gift of children. Mother’s Day love and blessings to you ❤️

She is strong and respected and not afraid of the future. She speaks with a gentle wisdom. She is always busy and looks after her family's needs.... Give her credit for all she does. She deserves the respect of everyone. Proverbs ‭31:25-27, 31‬

The Trees: Part of Hope Lutheran Church’s History

The larger tree in the background, shown in bloom, is a flowering crabapple tree planted around 1973, the time the church was built.

The light green tree is a linden tree planted in 2006 in memory of James “Parm” Harris. The Harris family donated the land where the church now stands. Parm played a significant role in guiding the church and was a strong influence for many years.

The smaller blooming tree is another flowering crabapple, planted last October in memory of James Witmer Harris. Like his father, Parm, he was deeply dedicated to supporting Hope Lutheran Church in every way and will be greatly missed.

🌺Additionally, a poppy flower was planted this spring in honor of Jim and all veterans.
