Hi friends!

Do you love vbs? Do you love kids? Do you think leading children to Jesus and teaching them about God and the Bible is an important and worthy ministry?

Perfect, me too.

A fantastic ministry opportunity has opened up and I have to tell you guys about it. The Nazarene church in Mineral City has maintained a children’s ministry called Kids Konnection for 30+ years. Every Wednesday evening, kids from all over our community come to church and experience a mini VBS-style night of music, a Bible story, games, snacks, and crafts. I attended this as a child myself! It’s a fantastic way to reach out the kids in our small village and inject a little more Jesus into their lives. (And honestly, dont we all need that?)

This year, we are in desperate need of volunteers. Many of our wonderful helpers and teachers are unable to return this year and it is to the point where we are concerned we will no longer be able to keep this crucial ministry afloat.

This is not a huge time commitment and it is so much fun. There are several areas we need help with so there’s something for everyone!

Kids Konnection runs every Wednesday night 6-8pm from the beginning of September to Thanksgiving. We take a break for the holidays and come back in January to the end of March.

Please, if you are interested and feel that this ministry and outreach for our community’s children is worth the investment of two hours of your time every week, attend our organizational meeting tomorrow night. If you can’t attend, please reach out to Katie (330-413-6082) or Pastor Karm (330-353-6190) and let us know, and we’ll get you up to speed.

We had an amazing first night of VBS! Our journey began with meeting Joseph in prison; tonight we’ll be meeting him in the palace instead. Bring the kiddos by to hear his story and how God worked in his life!

Things to know:
1) due to the heat, we’re playing water games all week. Dress appropriately! We’re also providing lots of water and popsicles to keep everyone hydrated.
2) this year we are collecting nonperishable donations for Friends of the Homeless of Tuscarawas county. Please send in your donations with your child any night this week.
3) Closing Program and Pizza Party will be on Friday beginning at 6pm. Bring the whole family for dinner and stay to see what the kids have been experiencing all week!

FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR CHILDREN. Sun Meals/Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) starts Monday June 2! Free breakfast served at 9am in our gymnasium and lunch is at 11:30-12:30 also in our gym. A menu will be posted weekly here on Facebook and on the bulletin board inside the entrance door. No income verifications or registration needed. Just come eat. We will feed anyone and everyone under the age of 18 who walks through our doors.

Our soup kitchen for adults and other services will continue as always. Come one day, come every day this summer. Let us help stretch your food budget! Come socialize with your friends and make new ones while your children get a healthy, child-friendly meal.

Calling all crafters!!

Join us on Saturday, May 31st to prep some craft materials for VBS week! All materials are provided, and of course there will be plenty of snacks, music, and laughter. We’d love to see you there!

Brief meeting begins at 1:30.

The Salvation Army will once again be participating in the USDA's summer feeding service program (SFSP) now called SUN Meals. From June 2 to August 8, breakfast and lunch will be available at no charge for any and all children ages 18 and younger who are present during meal times. There is no registration or income eligibility requirements. Simply come. Your child does not have to attend our summer day camp to be fed.

Breakfast will be served from 9-9:30am.
Lunch is served from 11:30am-12:30pm.

Our regular lunch soup kitchen starts at noon and will gladly provide meals for the adults in your family, if needed.

Menus will be posted weekly here on social media and on our door.

Meals will be child favorites that meet the USDA's requirements for SFSP and will feature foods from all four food group components. This is our sixth summer providing free meals. We have a good idea of how to make a great healthy lunch the kids love!

Watch for more information including special events as we get closer to summer. In these uncertain times, know there is one thing that is certain-- we are here for the families of Tuscarawas County.
