Hi, All,
Ken, Berke and I held the 4th and final workshop "Exploring the Biblical Concept of Justice" yesterday after worship. Using the values selected by the attendees at the 3rd workshop, we shared the following statement that will be printed and shared with all of you who expressed interest in these workshops:
Because Christ called us to love God and love our neighbor, these are some of our shared Faith Presbyterian Church values: Faith, Making a Difference, Learning, Community,
Service, Beauty, Caring, Inclusion, Generosity
Yesterday, stones from the streambed by the memorial garden were brought to the tables. Everyone selected a value and painted one on their stone. These will be returned to the streambed after worship next Sunday.
Music Director Robert Reed played for us as we sang the 2nd verse of "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". Ken shared that an "eben" is Hebrew for stone and ebenezer means "stones of help".
Berke reminded the group of Amos 5:24 "Let justice roll down like water and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream" (Hymn 757) as we prepare to return our stones to the stream.
Ken closed the gathering stating, "Justice is what happens when our values are alive and honored".
Thanks to everyone for your interest in these workshops. There will be further opportunities to continue to explore the Biblical concept of justice so watch for emails and or announcements if you are interested.
Blessings to all,
Janeese (aka Janice)
