An update from our youth ministry!

No family meal tonight for our Wednesday activities, but we will still meet for activities and a movie with snacks!

This Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM, we will begin a 5-week Lenten Study on The Last Hours of Jesus. The study will be held in the Sanctuary and open to all. Our regular Wednesday evening Children’s Programs will take care of your little ones.

This week’s study will be on the events of the Last Supper.

Please read in advance: Mark 14: 12-26; Matthew 26:17-30, and Luke 22:14-23.

This past Wednesday, March 1st, the members of First United Methodist Church Minden that were present at the Church Conference voted to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church. Of the 192 ballots cast, 178 voted to disaffiliate and 14 voted to stay UMC. This move presently does not affect our theology or ministries. We will continue to operate governed by the 2016 Discipline. We will continue to do church as we did in February.

We know this move has caused pain for some of our parishioners. If you need to visit with me, please contact me through the church office. I’ll try to answer your questions and address your concerns graciously.

First Methodist Minden will be holding a Church Conference on Wednesday, March 1 at 5:30 pm (registration begins at 5:00 pm). This conference is to allow our church membership to vote regarding disaffiliation. All members are encouraged to attend and childcare will be provided.

The Church Sanctuary will be open for prayer on this important matter on Monday from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, on Tuesday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, and on Wednesday from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. Please make some time on these three days to pray regarding the vote on Wednesday evening.
