Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio, contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur: tuque, Princeps militiae caelestis, in virtute Dei, in infernum detrude satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, political disagreement has grown so hostile in our society, there are those who have turned to lethal violence against people with whom they disagree and in response to political and judicial outcomes that do not suit their views.

May we be a nation of citizens who respect one another’s humanity and mutual identity as Your sons and daughters. May we be able to approach disagreements with compassion for one another and a desire to truly understand one another’s point of view.

When emotion blinds us to the humanity of others, let us draw upon the strength in Your words to St. Peter, “Put your sword back into its place; for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.” – Matthew 26:52
