What a wonderful day of worship, learning, and fellowship at our Diocesan Renewal Gathering!

Thank you to everyone from across the diocese who joined us at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church - Salem, Oregon. It was a joy to gather together to pray, learn, reconnect, and renew our shared commitment to Christ's mission.

We cannot thank the people of St. Timothy's enough for their gracious hospitality and for welcoming us so warmly throughout the day. We are deeply grateful to the clergy, staff, and volunteers whose generosity made this gathering possible.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the Rev. David “Kawika” Jackson of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaiʻi for his thoughtful and inspiring presentations. His invitation to reflect on God's consistent calls to welcome the stranger and embody generous hospitality will continue to inspire our life together long after the day has ended.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, contributed to the basket raffle, and helped make this year's Renewal Gathering such a meaningful time together!

Trinity is such an indelible part of Portland, and has figured so much in the city's history. Here's a little more from our friends at the Oregonian as we continue to celebrate Trinity's 175th!

Trinity Cathedral draws 300 to 400 worshipers each Sunday through its classical music program and inclusive approach, bucking Portland's trend of declining religious attendance.

It was a glorious Trinity Sunday as Bishop Akiyama joined the people of Trinity Cathedral Portland for a day of worship and celebration.

During the service, the bishop confirmed and received new members into the Episcopal Church, marking an important milestone in their faith journeys and in the life of the cathedral community.

The day was also part of Trinity Cathedral's ongoing 175th anniversary celebration. Along with giving thanks for the cathedral's long history of ministry in Northwest Portland, the congregation welcomed back former Deans the Rev. Bill Lupfer and the Rev. Nathan LeRud.

As Trinity Cathedral marks this significant anniversary, we give thanks for its enduring witness, its ministry in the heart of the city, and all who have helped shape its story over the past 175 years.

This past Sunday, Bishop Akiyama spent time with the community of St Matthew's, Eugene, sharing in worship, fellowship, and the joy of being together.

Sunday visitations are always a reminder that our diocese is not simply a collection of congregations, but one body in Christ, connected across cities and communities by prayer, service, and shared mission.

Thank you to St. Matthew’s for the warm welcome and delightful hospitality!

This week, Bishop Akiyama traveled to Chicago to attend the installation of the Rev. Dr. Mark Lee as Dean and President of Bexley Seabury Seminary.

She is pictured here with Dr. Lee and the Rt. Rev. Paula Clark, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago, as well as with Dr. Lee and other Asian American clergy and lay leaders gathered at St. James Cathedral, Chicago for this joyful occasion.

We give thanks for the ministry of Bexley Seabury and for this new chapter in its shared life of formation, leadership, and service to the Church.

Bishop Akiyama had a wonderful Mother’s Day visitation with our dear friends at St. Mary's, Woodburn. During the service, eleven members were received and confirmed into the Episcopal Church, surrounded by the love and support of family, friends, and the parish community.

It was a joyful celebration of faith and belonging, and a beautiful reminder of the many ways God continues to call people into the life of the Church. We give thanks for the community of St. Mary’s and for all who marked this special day together.
