Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee established the Legal Services for Immigrants program (LSI) in 1999. Now known and Refugee and Immigration Services (RIS), the program is dedicated to two objectives: providing high-quality immigration legal services to those in need, and disseminating accurate information about immigration issues throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Three sta
ff attorneys, two paralegals, and numerous volunteers and interns provide a full range of family-based and humanitarian immigration legal services. In keeping with the Catholic Charities mission, we place particular emphasis on serving the most vulnerable immigrants: victims of domestic violence and other crimes; abandoned and abused children; and families with one or more members in removal proceedings. We represent clients in the ten counties of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee: Dodge, Fond du Lac, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, and Walworth. Although we dedicate most of our resources to serving clients, we are also committed to serving the broader community through educational presentations. Each year our attorneys give numerous speeches and workshops to diverse audiences of immigrants, legal professionals, and Catholic clergy.
