Casa Romero Renewal Center opened in July, 2001, housed in a historic School Sister of Notre Dame convent. The Center originated from the vision of transforming the vacant convent house, located in the heart of the Latino community, into an urban retreat center. It would be a peaceful place where neighborhood people could reflect on and renew their dreams so that they would return to their familie
s and communities bringing fresh messages of hope. The vision caught fire and with the help of many volunteers the house was renovated and began its operation twelve years ago. Since its inception, the Center has endeavored to provide an accessible and affordable meeting place in the midst of the city's urban scene. Through its creative and original bilingual programming, Casa Romero strives to offer holistic formation to future leaders in the Latino community. Casa Romero's programs aim at a grass-roots formation process for youth and families. Within this context, Casa Romero develops programs for youth and adults that enhance participants' self-awareness and esteem, leadership, spiritual/emotional well being, and community service. The ultimate purpose of the formation and renewal that Casa Romero offers is to seek the common good, building a stronger civic and social community through a courageous commitment to a more just, sustainable, and peaceful world. Our mission is achieved through four principal program categories which include youth development, spiritual formation, family enrichment and social justice awareness. All of our programs seek to:

* Facilitate youth dreams, goals, and the creation of a life vision
* Engage individuals in the recognition and understanding of their unique gifts
* Provide youth and adults with personal and leadership formation
* Help inform a positive worldview
