The first day of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 will be Monday, May 18th.

The moon was sighted and confirmed by multiple sources, including contacts in New Jersey (Masjid Hamza), New York, Barbados, and other locations across the region. Therefore, Dhul-Qadah will complete a 29-day cycle.

Important Dates:

Day of Arafah Tuesday, May 26th

Eid-ul-Adha Wednesday, May 27th

Dhul-Qadah 29, 1447 per Chicago Hilal Sunnah Sighting
(May 17, 2026 Sunday )

The committee will attempt to sight the Hilal after Maghreb tonight (per locality & region sharing a large part of day & night with us) .

If it is sighted Dhul Hijrah will begin; if not Dhul Qadah will complete 30 days.

Announcements will be made by Masjid Nursi & by text updates starting at Maghreb tonight until a final decision is confirmed.
