Our Lord, in His infinite wisdom, has called our beloved sister, Linda Schmidt, home to heaven. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; a good friend to many; a dedicated servant to her Lord and his church here at Messiah.
While we will miss her dearly here, we rejoice that she is now safe in Jesus' arms and at peace.
Visitation 2-4, service at 4 this coming Sunday, Nov. 2nd at Messiah Lutheran Church.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mark Johnston, brother of our new pastor, Paul. 🙏✝️

One of our alumni passed away. Pastor Mark Johnston. He was in my graduating class of 1966. The below was posted by his son on Facebook. He was working out at the YMCA and didnt feel good. A helocopter flew him to Froedert Hospital.

Just after midnight, the surgeon came in to let us know that, despite 17 hours in the operating room, he just could not piece together the heart of our dad, Mark Johnston.

And, so, he let us know that our dad died. He went home to heaven.

This morning, a cousin pointed out that today, April 25th, is the Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist on the Christian calendar.
“Evangelist” is exactly what dad was- in his home, in his community and in the congregations he served. The Gospel of Jesus was on his heart and lips even as he was being wheeled into surgery. This saint Mark, by the saving work of Jesus and through faith in him, now dwells in glory together with all the saints who have gone before.

The prayer for the Feast of St. Mark the Evangelist from the Treasury of Daily Prayer:

Almighty God, You have enriched Your Church with the proclamation of the Gospel through the evangelist Mark. Grant that we may firmly believe these glad tidings and daily walk according to your Word; through Jesus Christ, our Lord who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

We will work on determining the date and time of Christian funeral soon and will share the details.
