Festival season is here, and Forest Home Cemetery & Arboretum is here to contribute, including our most anticipated event of the season, Summer Soulstice on June 18.

Guests at Summer Soulstice will journey through our historic grounds by candlelight, horse, and carriage. Guides will share stories of the souls who shaped Milwaukee. This evening garden party supports the work of the Forest Home Historic Preservation Association. Please reserve your seat in the Victorian Garden today.

And, did you know our hometown was Brew City before we became Festival City? Thirty breweries were based here in 1860. Today, 20 of their founders and owners are eternal residents of Forest Home.

Their stories are Milwaukee’s story. Listen in during the Beer Barons tour, presented in partnership with Historic Milwaukee Inc. on select Saturdays. Tickets are on sale today for the June 27 tour.

Monday, May 25.

Hundreds of you joined us on Memorial Day to pay tribute to them: 107 fallen soldiers whose service spans the Civil War to the Vietnam War, and who are laid to rest here.

Volunteers paid tribute in the weeks leading up to the holiday, making sure a flag was placed to honor every veteran and soldier memorialized here.

Monday’s commemoration reminds us there are many ways to honor their service.

UPDATE: The dog is no longer around Forest Home - we did call MADAAC yesterday and they came out, but we have not heard any updates.

Hello Forest Home fans! Our grounds crew found this cutie on 20th Street, near the south side of Cleveland Avenue. If they belong to you - we have reached out to MADDAC for their safety.

Today, we remember the service and sacrifice of the 107 military members buried at Forest Home Cemetery who died during their wartime service in the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War.

A beloved tradition returns to Forest Home on Monday, May 25.

The cemetery's Memorial Day commemoration begins with an 11 a.m. service in the landmark chapel. Fourteen living historians share their life stories in Section 33. Walk through the city's history during a guided tour from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Memorial Day at Forest Home Cemetery & Arboretum honors all fallen soldiers and veterans. Visitors can find markers and memorials in our Garden of Honor, Soldiers' Home Lot, and throughout the grounds. We’re the final resting place for thousands, their service spanning the War of 1812 to today.

Hundreds of volunteers joined us this spring to prepare the grounds and update our veteran database for Memorial Day 2026. Thanks to you, we're ready.

Our Memorial Day lineup for Monday, May 26:

11:00 a.m. - Memorial service in the Chapel and wreath-laying in the Garden of Honor

11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Living historians tell their stories in Section 33

2-3:30 p.m. Milwaukee history tour

Bring a chair and picnic, a blanket and book. Spend the day exploring local history under the tree canopy. Please join us on Monday, as a veteran, volunteer, historian, or Milwaukeean. Everyone is welcome.

Today we wrap up a busy season of service at Forest Home Cemetery & Arboretum with help from the sophomores and juniors of High School Southeast Campus and the 8th graders from Carmen South Middle School of Science and Technology, who chose Forest Home as their site for Carmen Day of Service!

In just two hours, 150 students accomplished an incredible amount of work. They picked up sticks in Section 33, where our historians will be stationed for Memorial Day, edged headstones and placed flags on veterans’ graves in Garden of Time, weeded in Our Lady of Guadalupe, and cleaned the statue in Garden of Christus.

We appreciate your hard work and enthusiasm, and we look forward to welcoming you back for a fourth year next spring!
