We come together for meaningful worship, learning, connection, and mitzvah‑doing—supporting individuals and families through every stage VALUES
Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills is an inclusive, diverse, and
participatory synagogue. We strive to create many paths where all feel a
deep, comfortable, and profound sense of connection and belonging. We
are committed to welcoming, engaging,
respecting, and embracing people
of all ages, ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations,
differing abilities, gender identities, and financial means. Our foundation is
based on:
Jewish Traditions and a desire for personally fulfilling connections to
Judaism
Investment in lifelong learning through youth and adult Jewish
education
Respect for all people through the lens of unity without uniformity
Commitment to Tikkun Olam (Healing the World) through acts of
loving kindness and social action, including combatting injustice and
antisemitism.
Assurance that financial means are not a barrier to membership and
participation in congregational life
MISSION
We engage our youth and adult members in observing Shabbat, Jewish
Holidays and life-cycle events, Jewish education, and creating spiritual
experiences that meet the diversity of Jewish expression - all in a manner
that sustains future generations. We draw from the wisdom, ethics and spiritual diversity found in Jewish
Tradition, Faith, and Culture. This informs, inspires, and interconnects the
lives of our members and community, enabling us to positively impact the world. We fulfill this mission by serving as a House of Assembly (Beit Knesset),
House of Study (Beit Midrash), and House of Prayer (Beit Tefilah). VISION
We envision a community that continually fosters and enriches meaningful
connection to Judaism through practices and community gatherings while
respecting different expressions of Jewish identity. We work to create an environment that engages our members, building on
their unique passions, skills, and creativity while developing future leaders
to support the ongoing spiritual growth and evolution of our congregation. While supporting each other and deepening our connections with Judaism,
we aspire to be stewards of justice in our broader communities.
