We hope you have a great Labor Day! Labor Day gives us an opportunity to step away from our work, slow down, and enjoy some much-needed rest.
--
But there is a kind of weariness that a day off can’t fix. We can rest our bodies and still carry weary souls that are burdened by worry, guilt, disappointment, uncertainty, or simply the weight of life.
--
The invitation of Jesus is worth considering today. “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest ... and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28–29)
--
On this Labor Day, enjoy the opportunity to rest from your work. But even more importantly, remember that true rest for the soul is found in Jesus. Bring your burdens to him. Trust him. Walk with him.
--
Your body needs rest. Your soul does too.

Someone ran the race of faith before you. Someone taught you the gospel. Someone prayed for you. Someone showed you what it looked like to trust God. Someone helped point your eyes toward Jesus.
--
They carried the baton for their leg of the race. Then, somewhere along the way, that baton was passed to you. And now it’s our turn.
--
The life of faith is bigger than what God is doing in our lives right now. We are part of a story that began long before us and, unless Jesus returns, will continue long after us. Our responsibility is to faithfully run the part of the race God has given us and make sure the faith entrusted to us is passed on to those who come behind us.
--
So keep running. Trust God when he shows you that he is bigger than the obstacle in front of you. Trust him when circumstances require you simply to believe that he is better than anything this world can give or take away. And through it all, point people to Jesus.
--
One day, our leg of the race will be finished. May those who come behind us be able to say, “They ran faithfully. They didn’t drop the baton. And they passed it on to us.”

As we begin a new month, we invite you to join us for 30 days of prayer, asking God to produce the fruit of the Spirit in our lives and equip us with the whole armor of God.

August 30, 2026 // Faith That Carries On // Ordinary People. Extraordinary Faith. We think about a faith that carries on. Find the full worship service at https://fbcmilton.org/media.

08/30/2026

For the past 11 Sundays, we’ve walked through Hebrews 11, learning about the extraordinary faith possessed by some very ordinary people. This Sunday in Morning Worship at 10:30, we’ll wrap up the series as we think about a faith that carries on. Read through Hebrews 11:32-40, spend some time in prayer over the weekend, and be in a seat on Sunday morning to see what the Spirit may speak to your heart through the Word.
