Last night’s MDWK was POWERFUL! 🙌🔥

And honestly… who knew the power going off would help us focus on what really matters? 😂 In the middle of the darkness, God reminded us that we don’t need all the lights, noise, or distractions to hear from Him. We just need to turn our attention toward Him. ❤️

We dove into “Sticks, Stones, and Setting Tones” and learned that our words reveal what’s happening in our hearts.

📖 SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 15:1–7, Proverbs 15:28, Proverbs 18:21

🗣️ THE 3 MAIN POINTS

1️⃣ Listen with the Heart of the Father — See people the way God sees them.
2️⃣ Ponder with the Presence of Jesus — Slow down, listen, and think before you respond.
3️⃣ Speak with the Power of the Spirit — Let the Holy Spirit shape your words so they bring life.

🎯 MARK OF A DISCIPLE:
Disciples of Christ glorify God with their speech. — Psalm 71:8

🔎 DIG A LITTLE DEEPER:
Read Proverbs 15:1–7 this week and ask yourself: “Do my words bring life or stir up anger? What do my words reveal about my heart?” Then pray and ask God to help your speech look more like Jesus.

Last night was 🔥 at MDWK! Our students showed up for Decked Out Night and absolutely brought the energy for Village Wars! 🏘️🔥 So many of you showed up repping your village colors, and we loved seeing the student ministry decked out! 🙌

But beyond the fun, we talked about something that matters long after Village Wars is over:

CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS CAREFULLY.

📖 Scripture: Proverbs 13:20 — “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”

🧭 3 Marks of a Biblical Friend

1️⃣ Choose friends who tell you the truth—even when it’s hard.
2️⃣ Choose friends who show up—even when it’s inconvenient.
3️⃣ Choose friends who help you grow into who God created you to be.

🎯 Mark of a Disciple

Disciples of Christ form deep relationships with other disciples.

👣 Your Next Steps

• Identify who is influencing you.
• Find one friend who will tell you the truth.
• Become the friend you’re looking for.

🔎 DIG DEEPER: Read Proverbs 13–14 this week and ask yourself: “Are the people closest to me helping me become more like Jesus?” Then ask God to show you one friendship you need to strengthen, change, or become more intentional about.

And remember: Don’t let the people around you determine who you become. Choose friends who help you become who God created you to be—and most importantly, choose to follow Jesus.
